Hard work through half term

Over May Half term we held a holiday club at Clifton Green Primary School, York as well as a Ryedale Primary Choir rehearsal in Pickering. Both days were filled with a variety of songs, workshops, and outdoor activities which everyone had a chance to be involved in.

At Clifton Green we started the day by playing musical games including singing in rounds and unison with one person noting “the games really got me energised and broke the ice”. Smaller groups took part in rapping workshops creating pieces through rhythm and rhyming. These were shared to the group with lots of support and cheering!  We then were treated to a delicious lunch thanks to the amazing school cooks!

In the afternoon we created the ‘Clifton Green’ rap which was shared to parents/carers in an end of day performance. With feedback including “My child really enjoys coming to these session her confidence is definitely growing.”

We ended the week in Pickering at our Ryedale Primary Choir rehearsal where the group was working hard towards the Ryedale Festival Community Song Cycle. We were joined by the Worcester College, choristers each choir enjoyed getting to know each other particularly the lunch time football match!  One of our choir members said “ it was amazing having everybody together.”

We aim to bring the benefits of music to all children. One way we do this is by offering community musical experiences throughout the region in the school holidays. If you would like more information or would like to join our mailing list, please email: info@rsmf.org.uk
